Cybersecurity is a Pain in the A$$

Reading Time: 2 minutes

When it comes to cybersecurity, the learning process is a continuous process as the threats are new and never-ending. Furthermore, cybersecurity applications consume a lot of resources.  Worrying about cybersecurity is an unfortunate necessary evil, and this is why:

Complex to setup

For setting up security architectures and tools, specialized personnel needs to be employed as it can be a complicated and time-consuming process.

Constant monitoring

Real-time monitoring of the system and network is required to detect threats well in advance, enabling the security team to assess the threat level and have a cybersecurity strategy to counter the same.

Annoying Regular Updates

To combat evolving hacking practices, startups must consistently update their hardware, software, and security strategies to stay ahead of attackers and safeguard data privacy.

User friction

While ensuring stringent security measures, the potential for inconvenience to users due to complex authentication processes or frequent password changes may lead to frustration and slower systems.

Unnecessary alarms

Excessive security measures can generate false-positive alerts, leading to user and administrator fatigue, reducing vigilance against real threats.

Stifling progress

Rigorous security protocols may impede the adoption of innovative technologies, complicating the integration of new systems and tools within existing security frameworks.

Regulatory burden

Stringent data privacy regulations and compliance requirements can create administrative burdens for organizations, particularly smaller businesses and startups, resulting in additional overhead and complexity.

And finally, it ain’t cheap…

Cybersecurity and data privacy measures can sometimes be expensive,  requiring consistent learning and spending in a continuously ongoing fashion, which can be a challenge for many startups.

More crimes happen on the internet than in real life. Phishing and internet scams have become routine. So even though taking care of cybersecurity is as enjoyable as picking up your dog’s poo after a walk around the block, you gotta take care of it.
